Explore our FAQ
Is this a kit or a completed home?

Panel Homes NT supplies flat-packed kits, not a building service. You or your builder erect the kit and arrange site works, slab, plumbing, electrical and finishing. Council approval and a certifier are not included.

What is included in a home kit?

The standard pack includes panels and connecting hardware, roof trusses and battens, Colorbond roofing, gutters and fascia, roof and ceiling insulation, aluminium single-glazed windows, sliding glass doors where stated, joint compounds, sealer and external render. Drafting, a site plan, a SketchUp model and a builder manual are also included.

Can I be an owner-builder?

Yes. Panel Homes NT supports owner-builders and supplies a builder manual. Reading plans, using power tools and a basic understanding of construction are an advantage. Electrical and plumbing work must be done by qualified trades.

Can I use my own builder?

Yes. You can use your own builder. Panel Homes NT can assist with construction questions and help you find a recommended builder. Panel Homes NT supplies the kit and does not carry out the build.

Can I supply my own plans?

Yes. You can supply your own plans or choose a design from the range. Standard designs can be altered. Discuss your location and requirements with Panel Homes NT before the engineering and design are completed.

Can you deliver to remote Northern Territory sites?

Yes. Flat-packed kits can travel by truck, road train, barge, ship or container. The transport option is discussed for the location and access. Contact Panel Homes NT to discuss your remote or regional delivery requirements.

Can a kit be delivered to an island?

Yes. The Bluejeep Retreat kit travelled by truck and ferry to Magnetic Island. That project is an example of island delivery, not a delivery schedule for other sites. Contact us to discuss access to your site.

Is the panel system cyclone rated?

Yes, the panel system is cyclone rated. Discuss the engineering needed for your property with Panel Homes NT. Technical papers and engineering documents are available on request, rather than as public downloads.

Do I need to arrange council approval and a certifier?

Yes. Council approval and certifier engagement are not included in the kit. You or your builder arrange them, along with site works, the slab, licensed plumbing and electrical work, and finishing.

Can the kit use a slab or an elevated floor?

Yes. The range includes concrete slab and steel floor system options. Available floor options vary by design. The suspended floor pack includes posts, beams, joists, brackets, bolts, associated hardware and floor sheeting.

How long does construction take?

Construction times differ between projects. Bluejeep Retreat reached lockup in 14 days and took about 3 months for the full build. These are facts about that owner-builder project on Magnetic Island, not a promised timetable for another build.

Are there granny flat and secondary dwelling designs?

Yes. The range includes granny flat and smaller home designs. The Humpty Doo project is a two bedroom second dwelling using The Doo design. You can also discuss a custom design for your requirements.

How do I request a quote?

Contact Panel Homes NT to discuss your property, delivery location and whether you will use an owner-builder or builder. Choose a range design or supply your own plan. These details are discussed before an estimate and the premanufacture contract.
